Start Right Stay Right: Successful Solution Delivery for Business Change Projects

Four Days

What is it about?

This umbrella course introduces Start Right – Stay Right as an approach that treats all parts of the project journey as one dynamic system. We’ll discuss the importance of aligning expectations, harmonizing plans, and creating a Guidebook that will keep your stakeholders and project team up to date and knowing what to expect and what is expected of them.

New and experienced project managers and business analysts will find this course valuable for learning a new way to approach projects and involve project owners and stakeholders, create critical plans, and organize effective teams.

Project Management Essentials

Four Days

What is it about?

Reflecting on the latest practices in the field of project management, through lectures and team exercises, we’ll focus on the basics of the project management framework as defined by the Project Management Institute. The project life cycle is reviewed in detail paying special attention to the development and management of the scope of the project.

Hands-on exercises highlight the need for Scope Management, the development of Work Breakdown Structures and tools and techniques to assist in the development of a strong working relationship with the client. The case study offers an opportunity to resolve and plan for the twists and turns all projects follow during the development life cycle.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for people who have recently moved into—or would like to move into—project management or project lead positions. Experienced project managers and leaders will also benefit from this introduction to current practices and the project management process.

Participants are welcome from all business and technical backgrounds.

Creating the Project Management Environment

Half Day

What is it about?

This course reviews the project management discipline, the roles and responsibilities of the project manager, and the ideal organizational structure for managing projects within an organization. We introduce the differing aspects of project management responsibilities, the role of a Project Management Office, education, and support. It concludes with an action plan defining the steps required to introduce project management into an organization.

This course is targeted exclusively to Senior Managers, Directors, and Executives responsible for setting budgets, managing project portfolios, and creating strategies and policies for the organization.

Estimating Workshop

Three Days

What is it about?

Developing the project estimates is one of the most difficult tasks the project manager and team face during the planning of a project. This course offers some theory and a lot of hands-on practice to apply various estimating techniques to the development of the work breakdown structure (WBS).

The session reviews how combining the various estimating techniques to the WBS takes the mystery out of creating project estimates and when to apply the various estimating techniques to the WBS.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for—

  • Experienced Project and Program Managers who want to review current practices in estimating and learn new techniques.
  • Project Managers and Project/Team Leaders who have recently entered the profession or recently assumed growing project responsibilities.
  • Project team members who are assigned to participate on a project, either full-time or part-time, and may include developers, service delivery staff,
  • finance and procurement analysts, Quality and test analysts, trainers, and others.
